HRRA is your resource for ensuring success in the real estate industry. As a new REALTOR® you may have many questions related to your career and we are here to help.
Education/Licensing
One of the first steps in your career is to make sure your license is always up to date. You will need to take 30 hours of post-licensing courses within one year from the last day of the month in which the license was issued in order to remain in active status. The post-license education (PLE) consists of 9 required courses: Fair housing, real estate law, ethics and standards of conduct, current industry issues and trends, agency law, contract writing, risk management, escrow requirements, and real estate-related finance.
Industry leaders will tell you that you should put aside 10% of your income for advanced education beyond PLE and continuing education (CE) credits. These PLE and CE classes do not help you sell real estate or your service, they are designed to protect the public, and keep you practicing within the law. To increase your business, you need industry training.
HRRA offers education for each stage of your career. For PLE or CE, we have both live and internet classes. Our councils focus on industry specialties, specifically: brokerage, commercial, new homes (construction), property management, and resale. In addition, the HRRA Young Professionals Network (YPN) offers bi-monthly education. Our committees offer training in the form of forums and workshops. The forums are designed to keep you in the know about legal changes, regulatory changes, economic changes, school board plans, city planning and much more. Finally, Alpha College of Real Estate, a division of HRRA, offers designation and certification courses. These courses are recognized nationally and deliver specialized niche education, for example: Accredited Buyers Representative, Accredited Land Consultant, Certified International Specialist, Military Relocation Professional, just to name a few.
