Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant to ForKids

Chesapeake, VA, January 14, 2025 – The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation is proud to announce a $10,000 grant awarded to ForKids, a local organization dedicated to ending the cycle of homelessness and poverty for families and children in the Greater Hampton Roads area.

ForKids, established in 1988, has grown to become one of the largest providers of homeless services to families in Virginia. The organization offers a range of services including emergency shelter, housing, education, and critical support services.

Billy Hallal, Senior Grant Writer at ForKids, expressed his gratitude: "The money that you've given will go to support our permanent supportive housing program, which helps families with heads of households with disabilities. These families have experienced homelessness or housing instability and are navigating getting an income while having a disability. We provide rent support for a period, typically of three to five years, which is much shorter than the national average for similar programs. We work with our families to build up their confidence, self-sufficiency, and income, helping them to achieve stable and healthy lives beyond their time in ForKids programming. Thank you."

Phil Kazmierczak, the 2025 President of the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation, shared his enthusiasm: "We're absolutely thrilled to be able to partner with ForKids, for community sustainment and development. I think they do great things in the community, and we are proud to be a partner."

The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation is committed to supporting organizations that make a significant impact in the community. This grant will help ForKids continue their vital work in providing stability and support to families in need.
