HRRA Hosts Successful Legislative Reception, Featuring Senator Angelia Williams-Graves

Chesapeake, VA– The Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association (HRRA) brought together local legislators, REALTORS® and industry partners on Thursday, October 10, 2024, for its highly anticipated Legislative Reception. Held at the HRRA headquarters, the afternoon offered a unique opportunity for members to connect with lawmakers in a relaxed, social setting, fostering conversations on the key issues shaping the future of real estate in the region.

Attendees had the chance to shake hands and share ideas with influential legislators from across Hampton Roads, building relationships that bridge the gap between public policy and the real estate industry. Among the notable speakers was Senator Angelia Williams-Graves, a REALTOR® and valued HRRA member, who delivered brief remarks highlighting the importance of continued REALTOR® involvement in legislative matters.

“It’s always great to be with fellow REALTORS® in the legislative space, and now more than ever, I think our partnership with the real estate associations and with professional REALTORS® is important, especially as we work to highlight and tackle affordable housing issues.” Senator Williams-Graves shared. “So, I’m looking forward to continuing that work and doing good work on your behalf.”

The event was hosted by Kim Georges, HRRA’s 2024 President of the Board, who underscored the significance of the afternoon as a means for REALTORS® to engage directly with their elected officials in a more casual, personal environment. "This reception is about building connections," said Georges. "It’s an opportunity to have those important conversations that don’t always happen in formal meetings. We’re thrilled to have had such a great turnout from both our members and local legislators."

Also among attendees was Rosemary Wilson, Vice Mayor of Virginia Beach and a REALTOR® herself, who participated in the evening’s discussions and mingled with HRRA members and lawmakers.

The Legislative Reception is an annual event that serves as a platform for HRRA members to interact with their local representatives, offering an open forum for dialogue on legislative priorities and local housing concerns.
