Local REALTORS® Have a Heart Volunteers Join Forces to Support Edmarc Children's Hospice

[Portsmouth, VA] Nearly 50 dedicated volunteers from REALTORS® Have a Heart, a community-oriented initiative of the Hampton Roads REALTORS® Foundation, gathered on February 27 to provide assistance to Edmarc Hospice for Children, a cherished nonprofit organization offering invaluable aid to families with children facing terminal or life-threatening illnesses.

Edmarc has been a beacon of hope for countless families in our community, offering comprehensive, compassionate in-home nursing care during some of life's most challenging moments, at no cost to the families. Recognizing the importance of their mission, REALTORS® Have a Heart mobilized its volunteers to make a tangible difference at Edmarc’s headquarters in Portsmouth.

The volunteer event saw participants roll up their sleeves and tackle a variety of indoor and outdoor projects, all aimed at enhancing the environment for those who serve daily at the nonprofit. Tasks included landscaping projects to beautify outdoor spaces, thorough outdoor cleanup efforts, as well as indoor cleaning of windows and doors to ensure a welcoming and comforting atmosphere for all.

As a nonprofit organization, Edmarc runs on the generosity of donors and volunteers. Brittany Boylan, Edmarc’s Community Resources Coordinator, expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support from REALTORS® Have a Heart and its volunteers. "We heavily rely on volunteer work. Volunteers really help us to keep our costs low, which means we’re able to put that money we save towards actually helping our families.” Through leveraging volunteerism, the organization can keep their in-home care services free of charge for the families they help.

REALTORS® Have a Heart remains committed to supporting the vital work of organizations like Edmarc and looks forward to continuing its efforts to make a positive impact in the community.
